GCSE
|
|
Starting level:
Basic number work will be assumed (decimals, addition, subtraction etc,
basic fractions) and we go from there!
|
| Work load:
If you have to miss a session it won't
be the end of the world but you will have to make up the things you have
missed (but you will get help!)
Homework:
There is no compulsion to hand in homework for marking every week BUT
last year's students think you should spend around 2 hours a week at home
- even at the start of the course!
|
Exams:
There are 2 written exams in late May/early June 2009 and each is 1.75 hours long. There is NO coursework. |
Teckie stuff:
The text book answers are on a CD-Rom and you will need to find some way of getting to those. I also use this website to post up extra stuff, links to revision websites etc but IT IS perfectly possible to pass this exam without ever switching on a computer |
Cost:
A scientific calculator (about £7)
and the textbook (Edexcel publication: GCSE Mathematics Higher Tier Linear Course ISBN 1-903133-94-7 cost about £18) are essential - plus the usual paper, pen etc etc
|
|
LASTLY:
If you're interested TRY IT.
Adult classes are not as scary as school;
the teacher doesn't shout if
you look out of the window or chat
and you are allowed to say "I don't have a clue what you are talking about" - you will
never be the only one!
I promise: NO lines and NO detentions. |
